In a game that featured an unrelenting attack, Huntington downed the
visiting Rockville Center team 12-9 in a contest where the final score did
not reflect Huntington's dominance. The attackmen unleashed a frightful
scoring flurry, led by Pat Wright's four goals, the gunslinging of John
McCallen and Ryan Brady and the persistence of Kevin Marek.
Huntington's midfields consistently outpaced their opponents, led by the
crafty Chris Mahoney, the fleet of foot Ryan McDonough, the bullish Pat
Coffey and the wily Luke Nowrocki. THey were backed on the defense end by
the always reliable trio of Liam Jones, Steve Nigro and Chris Potter. The
defense gained extra support form Tom Mullady and Big Pat Cronin who
forcibly swept the crease clear for goalie Derek Northcoate. Northcoate made
a number of fabulous saves, particularly early in the game as the Huntington
team set the tone for the game.
This victory
marks the end of the regular season. The boys finished with a 6-2 regular
season record, a substantial over last year's record. The team now
prepares for the Cold Spring Harbor tournament where they hope for rematches
against the only two teams to defeat them, Three Village and Baldwin.
